Awesome Long Weekend (by Mary)

Friday was my 25th birthday (as Rob made very clear in an earlier post). I took the day off of work knowing that it is the last thing I would want to do as I struggle through my quarter-life crisis. Here are the highlights of the past four days (in chronological order):

1) orange sweet rolls for breakfast on Friday (can I get a mmm mmm?);
2) getting my hair cut even shorter;
3) my first acupuncture appointment (I don't think I'll ever understand what happened, but it seems to have seriously reduced my pain);
4) best birthday ever with all of my surprises, including the surprise visit from Amanda and Ryan, the stretch hummer, and celebrating with Jamie, Dave, Jon, Kelly, and Ron...hopefully I'll get pictures from Amanda to post soon;
5) eating a classic memorial day meal with Jamie and Erik on Sunday, and Jamie beating Rob at Rummy 500;
6) visiting the McLeese party in Monticello;
7) shopping at the mall today and buying clothes I didn't have to pay for, thanks to giftcards;
8) Rob and I starting a 1,000 piece puzzle at 4:00 and then getting half way through it by 7:00.

Celebrity Family! (by Mary)

Just one day apart, my brother was featured on the front page of the Daily Herald, and my husband was featured on the front page of the Entertainment section of the News Gazette.

Rob's feature
(btw, Rob never used the word "raucous" and we were on our best behavior in the back row, despite how the journalists interpreted his quote.)

Also, it would be fabulous if as many of our friends and family came out for the Mark Chesnutt/Joe Diffie concert. Consider this an open invitation! Rob and I are really looking forward to it!

Birthdays (by Rob)

Mary's bday is Friday and here's something I noticed:

When I have a birthday, Mary and I go out to dinner.

When Mary has a birthday, we have a celebration at her parent's house in Rockton.
When Mary has a birthday, we go out for pizza after work with her co-workers.
When Mary has a birthday, Mary and I go out to dinner.

I'm not complainin'. I'm just sayin'.

Rockford Marathon (by Mary)

We went to Rockton this weekend. My parents and Mary's sister Sarah and her family (inc. nieces) came Sat night for a "surprise" bday party at Mary's parent's house. Mary knew her sister was coming... so the only surprise was my parents.

Sunday was the Rockford Marathon and Half Marathon. I'm not trying to brag but I finished the Rockford Half Marathon in my personal best time: 1:51:22. That put me at 148th out of 592. I'm not trying to brag, but I also finished 12th amongst males 30-34 years old.

I'm not trying to brag, but our friend Ben Schneider (Dot's bro) won the full marathon (and $500) in 2:36:30. As soon as he crossed the finish line, he did an interview with two tv stations (here's a link to one). I think that's remarkable considering when I finished, I could barely say "bathroom." Here's a link to one of the tv news stories.

No Longer Reliable (by Mary)

Rob and I have missed three appointments in the last week. What has gone wrong with our schedule? We have no real excuse to miss these appointments, and this is completely out of character for me ("Andy" has a tendency to forget though).

For example, on Saturday, Rob was supposed to be on air from 6am-10am. Normally this is something he would record on Friday night before he leaves the office, but he was so caught up in selling tickets for the Mark Chesnutt/Joe Diffie concert, that he completely forgot.

Then, on Sunday, we had our couple's NFP class at 2:00pm. We talked about it on Saturday night, and I even logged my NFP chart on Sunday morning, but we were too into our yard work.

Then, last night I forget a doctor's appointment at 6:30pm (this isn't the type of appointment where you get a reminder the day before). Rob and I went grocery shopping after dinner, and it was the last thing on my mind.

I guess I am going to have set up text message reminders in our Google Calendar to prevent this happening in future.
