Minnesota Wildlife (by Rob)

Some baby loons, fifteen feet from the cabin.

Spiders. Everywhere else.

That appears to be a female Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) in the photo. Hooded mergansers nest in tree cavities. They breed as far north as central Saskatchewan and as far south as southern Illinois.
Loons typically have only 1 or 2 chicks.
